👨🏾🏫 5 Important Things I Have Learnt in 56 Days
Sharing my learnings so far.
Hey everyone,
Today’s newsletter is all about what I have learned on my 56-day journey so far. No big ideas and action points today, just some advice on side hustles and life.
Discipline over motivation
One of my first newsletters was about how motivation is a myth and how we shouldn’t rely on it. There have been days when I have been too tired after university or drained, where I have lacked the motivation to create LinkedIn posts or write my newsletter draft. But that’s when discipline kicked in. Setting myself a timetabled task of working 60 minutes daily on my side hustle has kept me going even when I don’t want to. If you are still relying on motivation, don’t anymore. Those who show up every day win.
Good posts and bad posts
Over the last few days, my posts haven’t done as well as previous ones. I have dropped from an average of 7-8 engagements to 4-6. And the reality is that will happen to all of us. Some days, we won’t be working at our 100%, or the algorithm will simply ‘dislike’ your post. And it’s ok. I used to work myself up about it until I realised it’s all a part of the journey. So if you are stressed, stop and enjoy the ride (I know it’s easier said than done sometimes).
Message people and connect
One of the best parts of creating content is meeting new people. Over the past 8 weeks, I have met countless new people via text or Zoom. Simply amazing. Everyone has their own story, and you learn that everyone is figuring it out as they go along. No one ever truly knows everything. If no one’s messaged you yet, take the first step yourself. Reach out; you might be pleasantly surprised.
Always celebrate your wins
No matter how small. Celebrate them. You have got to be your own biggest fan and supporter. I have been making a massive habit of sharing updates on my growth every 2-3 weeks. It’s also a great way of stepping back and realising how far you have come from where you started.
Remember your ‘why’
This is a difficult one. I have had a few messages from other students regarding how they feel overwhelmed and drowned by starting and everything else that goes with it. What’s worked for me is remembering why I am doing this and why it matters to me. When making any posts, I also always focus on my ‘why’, just like this edition. My ‘why’ is helping others become solopreneurs, whether they are students or not. Ask yourself what your ‘why’ is. It will become a whole lot easier.
That’s all for this week. I hope it’s helped all of you. Hit reply if you have any feedback or questions, would like to meet up or anything else at all 🙂
P.S. Thank you for reading these every week. It means a lot to me.
See you all next week!
Cheers,
Sanay

🧠 My Recommendations
📚 Book: The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday
I have been looking into stoicism for a while now, and this book is a must-read. A fascinating way of living and arguably leads to less stress. The quote above pretty much prompted me to stop caring about what others think and get started. I haven’t finished it yet, but I highly recommend it so far!
🎧 Podcast: Steven Bartlett and James Watt
I have been trying to learn more about marketing and scaling. After reading Hormozi’s $100 Offers (another must-read), my mind has started to think of all these crazy ideas, and this podcast was a great supplement.
