🤝🏾 Pick Your Group Wisely.
You are the average of the five people you spend most time with.
Hey everyone,
I recently recorded a podcast with Esh Tatla, a fellow student creator who talks all about digital health, entrepreneurship and more, for What Medical School Doesn’t Teach Us.
The podcast gave me the chance to reflect on a lot of different things from my journey over the last 8 months. One of the most important realisations was the value of being part of a group and surrounding myself with like-minded individuals.
The quote ‘show me your friends and I will show you your future’ does ring true to a large extent for me as I have been able to find others in similar situations in the ‘trenches’ with me. I have been able to see others struggle and come out victorious in situations and it has been an incredible feeling.
Personally, I have also been able to bounce ideas off some of them and gain advice and direction when I have been struggling or stumped (thank you to all of you who responded last week) and it’s been super helpful with all of the support.
So, from experience, choosing the group of people you hang out with truly matters as they can strive for you to do better and push yourself. Your group doesn’t necessarily have to be the same as you in terms of skillsets and goals; a better group would be one with diversity in both aspects but there should be an alignment in values and aims to some extent to let you bounce off each other when needed. Whenever you start your adventure, pay close attention to those who are around you 😉
Also, in view of this, we (Esh, Tiarnan, Imogen and I) have set up a free community to bring together like-minded individuals who are striving for more and are future healthcare leaders. If that sounds like you or someone you know, please check out this brief application link so we can get to know you a bit better 🙂
See you all next week!
Cheers,
Sanay
