🤔 Ever Thought About Your Personal Brand?
It can be incredibly powerful if done correctly.
Hey everyone,
This is a question I have been thinking about a lot recently. I had delved a bit into it when I began writing on LinkedIn consistently; however, not to the extent I have now during my rebranding journey. I never had a chance to think about it before as excitement and energy got me started (I set everything up at my university library in 60 minutes), and I haven’t looked back until now. A bit crazy 🤯
Now that I am looking at it properly…
It’s so important I get this right, in my opinion.
I am currently struggling to decide on multiple aspects of personal branding, from simple things such as colour to how I want to pitch myself to clients and my audience (all of you) going forward. Whilst some of this may be trivial in the short term, it’s something which I need to be happy with going into the future. The last thing I want is for my personal brand and imaging to come across as something I don’t personally relate to or am not happy with. This has subconsciously put me under considerable pressure because I want to live up to expectations from all of you and, most importantly myself.
I also worry about the rebranding because the it will be associated with me forever. When I join a Zoom call, many people recognise the ‘The Student Solopreneur’ banner I have on LinkedIn. That is the true power of a personal brand; it’s almost like a CV without ever having to submit one. Most of us create personal brands around our work ethic, ability, etc. but never fully leverage it to it’s full extent.
Finally, I am also slightly worried about how my pivoting and broadening my topics of interest would impact my current and future audience. However, after mulling over it for a while, I agreed that it is better that I pivot now rather than later. The short-term impact is smaller than the long-term gains to come.
Writing to all of you this week has been a great way of getting my thoughts down instead of having them wrapped up in my head. I also realise that most of it isn’t in my hands. What’s in my hands is rebranding ‘successfully’, i.e. how I like it and hope for the best!
I would really appreciate any advice you may have if you went through a branding process/are currently going through it. Just hit reply 🙂
See you all next week!
Cheers,
Sanay
