🐝 Busy Bees

Some ramblings.

Hey everyone,

How are you all?

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has been writing in - I am glad people find my rambles interesting, and honest conversations seem highly valued!

I am rounding out another extremely busy week - this Management iBSc is not all great. There’s a lot of coursework and at the moment it just seems to be a 24/7 and nonstop. The content covered is excellent and useful because it’s a mini-MBA, but the commitment is 🤯

I had the opportunity to attend a few events last week and have a few coming up, and from experience, I can’t emphasise how much I think we all need to develop skills in 3 key areas: sales, marketing and strategy. These are all not taught in medicine but are crucial to pretty much any industry apart from healthcare (depending on how you look at it). I would highly recommend you try and get some experience one way or another. I do a lot of my self-learning from places like HubSpot and other free online courses through Google etc. They are such versatile skills to add to your repertoire in my opinion even as a doctor e.g. when you set up private practice, or work as a GP or enter industry down the line. You will stand out from the crowd and be extremely unique.

I mention this because I have been able to exercise a few of these over the last few weeks, and sometimes, it’s also come down to resourcefulness and speed. But that can come later.

Sorry, it’s been so busy as well. I am trying to get back onto things I miss doing, but medicine might give me more time to do those things than a full-on intercalation degree. I am still learning on the go, so please bear with 🙂

See you all next week and take care!

Cheers,

Sanay
